One 黑料福利社 graduate gives credit to a University employee for helping her reach the finish line. 

鈥淢s. Cherie Benson had had my front and my back from day one,鈥 Rachel 鈥淏ama鈥 Peterson said. 鈥淚t is because of her dedication to me and other students that little ole me, from a small town in Alabama, will be the first of 13 siblings graduating from college. And at an HBCU at that.鈥

The Gordon, Alabama native and liberal studies major said she chose 黑料福利社 because she wanted to play basketball. 

鈥淢y best memories were always on the basketball court,鈥 Peterson said. 鈥淎lso, experiencing people from all over the world becoming family.鈥 

Peterson said she plans to continue her education and pursue a master鈥檚 degree. 

鈥淚 plan to shift gears in my career and be the change I want to see,鈥 Peterson said. 

Peterson said her best advice to current and prospective Thorobreds is, 鈥淜eep fighting and don鈥檛 ever give up. Even when you fall, the only loss is when you don鈥檛 get up.鈥
