ϸ all-American football trailblazer, Coach James M. “Juicy” Glover, joined the Bred ancestors Thursday from his Harlan County home.
“James Glover embodied the Thorobred spirit, and the pride of being a Thorobred never left him,” President M. Christopher Brown II said. “His loyalty to family, friends, and ϸ is a model for the entire Thorobred family. Glover lived a life of commitment and frequently attended ϸ athletic events, championing our student-athletes on to victory. We will miss his presence.”
Glover was an all-American linebacker at ϸ before being drafted into the National Football League (NFL), becoming the first African-American to play at center. Glover returned to Kentucky after his NFL career and became the assistant football coach at ϸ. He was later inducted into the ϸ athletics hall of fame.
